Rainy days

I feel like posting but I don't really have anything to post about atm lol. I think I have definatley have a case of January blues, like a lot of of other bloggers :( I do hate January. I know its what you make it, but everything just feels a bit flat after christmas and the weather is all gloomy and cold, and we still have early dark nights but without any of the twinkling festive lights to cheer us up! harriet at where is harriet wrote a good post on dealing with 'the Januarys' so if you're feeling as fed up as meeee you should check it if you have a minute to spare :)

My feel better for a gloomy rainy evening is to switch as many lights on as possible or light as many candles as you can (although this does make it harder to read lol) and curl up with a good book or a box set of your favourite DVDS. I know a lot of bloggers are talking about making reading more books a new years resolution this year so I just thought that I would share my favourites with you

As may slightly obvious from the above picture I am a massive Louise Bagsawe fan. I can't honestly say how much I LOVE these books. I'm always re reading them and if your after a good girly read they honestly don't come much better than these.
These are my favourite three books that shes written, and the ones I would personally recommend if you where thinking about reading one.

Career girls
This book if I had to pick is probably my favourite :) If I'm honest when I first started reading it it was a little bit difficult to get past the first chapter but I'm glad I did because if I hadn't I wouldn't have read anything else by her :) I was going to write a little bit about what the book was about, but to be honest the synopsis on the book of the book does it perfectly, so I'm just going to share those with you instead :)
 *synopsis taken from louise bagshawebooks.com*

All’s fair in love and war?
Blonde, beautiful, upper-class Rowena Gordon is the perfect English rose. Topaz Rossi is a feisty, Italian-American red-head from Brooklyn. Both are determined and talented. And there’s nothing they wouldn’t do for each other.
Until Rowena hooks up with Topaz’s boyfriend.
Now, years later, they are star career girls at the top of their game; Topaz in journalism, Rowena in the music industry. When their paths cross again, Topaz is not about to just forgive and forget. She’ll do everything in her power to shatter Rowena’s success. And Rowena will do anything to stop her…

                                                                         The Movie
Hollywood: where dreams come true?
Eleanor Marshall, Roxana Felix and Megan Silver are from very different worlds. But they all have something the other could use.
Eleanor Marshall, just made president of Artemis studios, is one of the most powerful women in Hollywood. What she wants now is a smash hit. When she’s offered the chance to make a movie with two sure-fire stars, rock ‘n’ roll idol Zach Mason and queen of the catwalk Roxanna Felix, she knows it’s an opportunity too good to miss.
Roxana may be a model rather than an actress, known for her devastating beauty and acid tongue, but she has the on-screen magnetism Eleanor needs. And when Megan Silver, waitress and struggling writer, appears with a dynamite script, it looks like they have all the ingredients for a runaway success…

                                                                 A Kept Woman
Wealth. Luxury. Privilege. Overrated?
Diana’s combination of beauty and class has bagged her marriage to publishing mogul Ernie Foxton, and with that comes a stunning New York apartment, a designer wardrobe and a manicurist, hairdresser and masseuse on tap. With little more to do with her days than shopping and socialising, this is the life for which she was born.
But then, without warning, the bottom drops out of Diana’s meticulously constructed world, and she finds herself without a home or a husband, and with barely a dime to her name. For the first time in her life, she might just have to look after herself. But, given how many people would love to see her fail, it’s not going to be a walk in the park…

These books are ones that I always pick up and re read when I'm feeling in need of cheering up.
There my fall back comfort reads if that makes any sense! Theres just something about picking up an old favourite book you know that you really like and re reading it :) If anyones interested you can read a synopsis here

My other favourite author is Sophie Kinsella. If I had to pick between her books and Louise Bagshawes I honestly don't think that I could! I've read mine so often now that the paper backs are slowly starting to fall apart! They're so funny and really easy to fall in to. It sounds cheesy but they are really one of those kind of books that make you feel like you're right there as its happening!

Remember me? by Sophie Kinsella I would also recommend if your looking for a good read :) Its about a girl called Lexie Smart whos life is less than perfect. Pictuire this you have snaggly teeth, and less than perfect hair, your boyfriend is a loser, whos just stood you up on a (rainy)night out, you've just missed qualifying for your bonus at work by a week (whilst all your friends are planning all the fabulous new things they will buy with theirs) and worst of all its your dads funeral tomorrow. Then you have an accident and when you wake up.... picture this: Its no longer 2004 but 2007 you have a gorgeous sexy husband, a fabulous figure, shiny hair and teeth, a designer wardrobe, a goregous swish new home and your the boss of your department and all your friends hate you....
I would love to see this book made in to a movie, it would be the ultimate chic flic :)

Lastly, not chic litr reads but really good books for your summer holiday?
Hotel/fashion/air babylon opens your eyes and gives you all the insider gossip in to
the said industry whilst taking place in a fictional setting. These books are really good and they really
open your eyes to what goes on!

On a last, seperate note how gorgeous is this jumper? I fell in love with it when I saw it on the website :)
Its from River Island and I want to buy it when it comes in to store to snuggle up in until the sun gets here

Hope everyones finding a way to get through rainy January! :)
Roll on the summer

love and kisses
