Pretty Glass Jars

I've always been a lover of pretty pictures, and have always horded scrap images from magazines and newspapers and downloaded files and files of 'inspiration' pictures on my lap top of anything from outfits, to hair and make up ideas and cooking. I used to get a lot of images from Pintrest (you should know that it's very addictive if you don't have an account) and then I decided rather than junking up my laptop with masses of downloads, I should do the more logical thing and create an account. I was happily pinning away when I came across these pretty glass jars on a DIY Pin. The idea is you can use them for make up brush storage or pop a little tea light candle in to them and have a really pretty vintage effect in your room. So I decided to make some :) It's so simple to do and only takes 5 minutes

You will need

Glass jars (any shape or size you like)
Pretty fabric
Fabric scissors
PVA glue and brush
Ribbon or lace to decorate (optional)

First thing you need to do is measure your glass jar so you know how long to cut the strips of fabric. You can roughly guess, or if like me, you have no sense of proportion then you might want to use a ruler and a pencil :)
I measured my strips about an inch in width

Cut your strips out. The neater you cut them the better it will look

Apply a thick stripe of glue down the inside of one of the glass jars, not forgetting the bottom and if your jar has a little lip at the top

Press one strip of fabric down the inside of the jar against the glue. Continue to do so all the way around, alternating with strips of lace if you wish

Voila :) You know have pretty glass make up storage jars or candle holders.
If you do decide to burn candles in them, I would apply a strip of sellotape to the inside rim of the glass jar as an extra precaution, just on the off chance you didn't apply enough glue and the fabric becomes unstuck, and lands on the candle.

They look so pretty with candles in them

Cute & pretty easy too.

Tumblr

So  Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone :D I hope you all has a good one. I appreciate how late it is to be saying either one, but I haven't blogged since either occassion so I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I'm feeling sorry for myself atm and writing this to you from my sick bed :'( I have somehow (skillfully?) managed to avoid whatever it is that affected most of my friends, workmates, family and fellow bloggers over the festive period only to be hit by it after evrything is over :( Even chocolate makes me feel sick :'(

Anyway yesterday we drove up to see my mums sister and her family in Montgomery. I was quite excited and wanted to go as its the first time that I got to see her shop since she opened last year :D  I swallowed lots of parcetomal and wrapped myself in a few layers and managed not to feel to awful on the long drive up (nothing worse than car journeys when you feel poop)

*just so you know there are looottssss of pictures below :) *

I love this its a storage box that looks like a book

I was quite excited to see these. I love shabby chic
storage boxes. I usually get them from Tx-maxx but they have been
sadly lacking of late

Pretty buttons

Bath bombs. These look and smell so amazing. I didnt buy any though
as sadly I am not a bath person I love my showers

There gorgeous new puppy lizzie! Shes so unbelievably
cute even if she did try and eat my new boots :)

I'm not sure why I love these so much but I just want to put them in the bathroom :)

Sorry about the less than brilliant photos but it was reeeeally cold up there and I wasn't in the mood to stand too still and get better ones :|  Anyway I love her shop its amazing. It was really hard not to buy everything in there too lol. There were a lot more shabby chic items in there than I was expecting. If it was me they would end up in my room and not in the shop, so I guess its just as well its not me who owns it :)

Heres what I (eventually) brought

I have a thing about anything to do with love on it
Not really sure why

I love this little wooden birdy :)

Little pretty storage boxes.
Not sure whats going in them yet

All that glitters

I was shopping yesterday when I found my new favourite beauty product for the christmas season (or any season if you are like me and love everything glittery and sparkly)  I needed some more strawberry body butter from the Body shop and decided to have a little look at the make up when I came across this product. It costs £10 and you squeeze the cute little handle/nozzle (are they the right words?) and it sprays shimmery pink/silver glitter all over you :D Its a really fine shimmery dust that comes out, and settles well on your skin (unlike some glittery products that tend to fall off in a little shower when I move)  You get quite a lot of shimmery dust from one spray so no need to squirt lots and have to spend your pennies on another bottle :)

I love the little handle/pump so much :) I thought it was perfume at first and accidently squirted pink shimmer on my friends jacket. He wasn't impressed. There was the only the tester on the shelf as they had all sold out :'( but fortunatley the manager put one out that had been on hold for a week and not collected so It was obviously meant to be :)

I think I have mentioned before I can never resist not buying any jewellery if I go out so these were my other purchases. Although accessorize has three for the price of two on all of their jewellery at the moment, so it would have been silly not to get anything :)

I love this peacock necklace so much its so pretty <3

Daisy bracelet

Theses were from Topshop

Right....this is going to make me sound really stupid, but does anyone know how to open
the original DKNY perfume??!? I don't know if the bottles faulty or i am just being an idiot but we can't figure out how to spray it! the tester in the shop had a little nozzle and you pressed the silver 'apple' top to spray it, but theres not one on her. We can't get the lid off, is it supposed to come off??? Theres no nozzle on the top is it underneath? Me my mum and my sister are lost :( If anyone can tell me I would really appreciate it as I don't feel like taking it all the way back to the shop (plus if its something really obvious they will think I am really simple :p )

Some christmas decorations my aunty sent from her shop :)
I'm going to hang them up in my room as soon as I feel like tidying it up a bit
and finding places for them (which I doubt will be any time soon)

love and kisses
